Engineer II - Tunnels

Employer: Mott MacDonald Group Inc. Title: Tunnel Engineer II Location: 1400 Broadway 21st Floor, New York, NY 10018 Duties: Undertake tunnel, structural, and geotechnical work on a variety of projects, including the design of underground structures, building foundations, tunnels, micro-tunnels, and other trenchless methods. Produce calculations reports, specifications, and drawings. Receive initial instruction, and advice from supervisor; technical adequacy of completed work is checked. Perform geotechnical field investigations for underground construction projects. Prepare field records, notes and reports. Develop numerical models to support design development for tunnels and related ancillary facilities (numerical models will include Plaxis, SAP2000, and similar applications). Perform assessment of subsurface conditions as well as the development of numerical modeling and basis of design reports. Position reports into New York, NY office; however, telecommuting from a home office is allowed. Less than 10% travel required for site investigation, inspection, and data collection. Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering, or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience as a Tunnel Engineer, or a related occupation. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include: One (1) year of experience in each of the following: Structural analysis of underground structures using software and/or hand calculations Engineering mathematics applied in the fields of geotechnical or structural engineering Design of concrete structures. Engineer - in-Training (EIT) Certification required. Salary range: $86,133 - $92,000/year. Multiple Positions.
