Internship Job Summary The Christman Company is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program! As a valued member of our operations team, you will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience during either project planning and/or construction phases. This internship will provide a great opportunity for a college student to play a significant role on a construction project leadership team, develop construction management expertise, learn technology applications that support efficient and effective delivery of construction management services, and participate in a broad range of project planning and/or construction management services. The internship will offer opportunities to support team members and bring value by recognizing challenges early and planning ahead for important project activities. What You Will Do: As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern , you play a crucial part in supporting the construction project team. Primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to: Provides administrative and technical support to the project team. Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings. Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection. Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates. Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos. Post all required safety information and signage to inform all workers and site visitors about site hazards and confirm appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including mandatory hardhats and safety glasses is worn at all times. Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager. Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan. Assists with other tasks as assigned. What You Bring to the Team: Required Education and Experience Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry is preferred. Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities. Minimum 3.0 GPA Pay Rate: $22.00-$24.00 per hour Why Christman? Here at Christman, everyone is an owner. Work Environment and Physical Demands: The majority of work is completed outside at the construction site and in an office trailer where the project is monitored, and daily decisions are made about construction activities. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires the wearing of protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats, safety glasses, and highly visible clothing). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons. Must be able to talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, be able to use a telephone and operate a keyboard.
