We will train you to perform complex diagnostic testing and exams, working with our doctors to provide critical medical information that assists them in treating our patients medically and surgically. We are seeking a skilled, energetic, patient-focused Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Technicians to join our outstanding team at Memorial Eye Institute located in Harrisburg PA . Our ideal candidate is already a certified Medical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician, however, we will provide on-the-job training to the right candidates as they work toward certification. We also pay for education assistance! In this role, your primary responsibilities are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and other administrative tasks. On-the-job training upon hiring! Responsibilities: Verify patient information and handle medical history intake. Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as application tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy. Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements. Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues. Dilate eyes to prepare patients for exams. Explain to the patient how to properly use eye drops or other medications. Show patients how to use contact lenses properly. Assist with clinical supplies and clinic functionality. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED certificate. Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program strongly preferred (COA or COT). Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is preferred. Experience with EMR tools a plus. Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word).
