Overview Positions: Registered Nurse (RN) North 4 Cardiology/Telemetry Unit Location: Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines Full Time Days $10,000 Sign on bonus for eligible positions! North 4 is a 23 bed nursing unit with telemetry cardiac monitoring capability for all patient beds. The nursing skill mix is 65% Registered nurse/35% patient care technician. The patient population on North 4 is cardiac medical. The major patient diagnoses includes: heart failure, pre/post cardiac catherization, cardiac diagnostic and intervention, myocardial infarction and medical overflow. Why UnityPoint Health? Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care. Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations. Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care. Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service. Qualifications Current active or compact license as Registered Nurse for the state of Iowa (BSN preferred) Current RN License recognized by the State of Iowa Board of Nursing Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing preferred Minimum of 6 months of RN experience ***PLEASE NOTE: All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN roles within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.
