Position Type: Support Staff/School Nurse Date Posted: 5/20/2024 Location: Mundelein High School Date Available: 08/14/2024 Substitute for School Nurse (as needed) Job Summary: To assist in maintaining a climate of health and well-being throughout the program and intervene as needed to provide services for those in need. Qualifications: Valid Illinois license to practice as a registered nurse Certified in CPR and A.E.D.'s Certified as a vision/hearing technician Bilingual (Spanish) preferred Performance Responsibilities: Prevention, Wellness and Education Conducts school health services, and observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs. Educates, and/or reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on school medical matters. Supervises compliance with immunization and communicable disease regulations. Acts as a consultant and resource person to the staff for health issues. Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in the school. Works with community agencies for effective use of their resource and facilities. Medical Intervention Plans for vision and hearing screening programs and follow up of deviations. Counsels with students in dealing with their personal health problems. Assumes authority, in absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness. Administers prescribed medication as appropriate to identified students. Counsels staff members regarding personal and family health problems. Records Collects, prioritizes, and documents health data from students, families, staff and service agencies in a systematic, organized and ongoing matter. Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students. Reviews and interprets medical and dental reports, including immunization status. Prepares and submits reports for the Superintendent and State Board of Health. Other Professional Duties Communicates with parents as needed. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Illinois nd Federal regulations with regard to general health care, health promotion and disease prevention. Demonstrates dependable attendance, punctuality and work ethics.
