A professional services firm in New York City is currently seeking an experienced Tax professional to join their staff as their new Tax Manager. In this role, the Tax Manager will be responsible for providing sophisticated tax compliance support and tax consulting in the areas of insurance taxation. Responsibilities: The Tax Manager will: Review of the clients' ASC740 income tax provision, for both GAAP and SSAP 101 (for statutory financial statements) Research tax-related issues involved in any federal, state or local tax planning projects that impact our clients Recognize, anticipate, and resolve tax-related issues and make recommendations that will be beneficial to clients' business and tax liabilities Communicate with the IRS and any applicable state and local authorities on behalf of clients' tax matters Serve as a representative of our clients for any possible tax-related audits that may occur Conduct appropriate tax research using CCH Axcess, RIA Checkpoint, IntelliConnect or Bloomberg Law Library Supervise and review the work of other tax professionals assigned to client engagements Review and maintain engagement budgets throughout all client assignments Develop and maintain meaningful client relationships Participate in client proposals and new business development opportunities Assist the Insurance Tax Practice Leader on client business development and lead opportunities Stay current on technical and industry developments and standards, while evaluating potential impacts on clients' business Perform other duties, as needed Qualifications: 4+ years of Insurance Tax experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or a Business-related field/ CPA or parts passed Experience working within Professional Services firm, a Tax Consulting practice or large Insurance Tax Department Strong tax planning, compliance and analysis experience Working knowledge of ASC740 for GAAP and SSAP 101 statutory accounting Proficient with use of CCH Axcess, GoRS and other tax software and technology programs Significant experience in the preparation and review of Form 1120-PC including delegation and training of staff in this respect Excellent tax research skills Solid analytical and mathematical skills Great interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong attention to detail Highly organized Desired Skills: Advanced Tax degree (MST, LLM, JD)
