PCM ONS ENGINEER required by our Client, within the Renewable Energy industry, to be assigned on a Contract basis, located in Boston, MA. POSITION SCOPE The Protection, Control, and Metering (PCM) Engineer is a key role within offshore projects, providing critical engineering advice for Protection, Control, and Metering at large-scale onshore and offshore facilities in the US and overseas. Belonging to the Systems Integration Package within the Project Execution Area and reporting to the Systems Integration Package Manager locally, the PCM Engineer will be responsible for implementing robust and cost-effective engineering strategies and plans. This includes tendering, negotiating, and managing offshore supply, installation, and maintenance contracts, as well as planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics. The PCM Engineer must comply with company and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, ensuring quality, best practices, and excellent H&SE performance are applied. Page 2 of 4 [Internal Use] The PCM Engineer will carry out engineering activities and make decisions. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the US and overseas, and the individual should be capable of managing teams working at different project locations. The role of the PCM Engineer is to provide technical expertise in the delivery of protection systems, substation control systems, and metering systems. They will work in coordination with the PCM Lead Engineer. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Design and Compliance: Ensure the conceptual and technical design of the Protection, Control, and Metering systems align with project requirements, Grid Code, Network Connection Agreements, TSO requirements, metering regulators, and regional regulations. Lead the contractor to meet specifications and applications of protective relaying, control system metering, PCM SCADA, and equipment monitoring for generation, transmission, and substation based on NERC, NPCC, and ISO NE compliance. Technical Support and Leadership: Lead technical discussions to support the contractor in meeting project requirements. o Provide expertise on complex design issues for Protection, Control, and Metering. Review and accept key engineering documentation and FAT testing procedures. Testing and Commissioning: Witness PCM system FAT and IOT, ensuring adequate completion of HAT, SAT, and SIT. Support commissioning activities for key engineering design items. Provide technical assistance to field engineers and technicians during project construction and commissioning. Design Review and Documentation: Conduct design reviews (due diligence) of key items provided by PCM contractors during conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering phases. Review protective relay settings for the entire project. Collaboration and Best Practices: Ensure collaboration and best practices from other projects are applied. Advise the PCM Project Manager on lessons learned from other projects that can be applied during pre-FID in Employer's requirements and project execution. Meetings and Coordination: Attend and coordinate internal project meetings and meetings with contractors and third parties. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree applicable related area preferred. 5+ years' experience in the electric utility industry. Offshore (preferred) Wind Projects Experience: Proven track record of delivery in an offshore wind projects environment, including technical due diligence and grid connection concepts. Experience in construction, commissioning, and operations of offshore wind projects. Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of offshore wind technology, including turbines and electrical infrastructure. Good understanding of operational efficiency. Project Commissioning Management: Strong experience in project commissioning management, including planning, budget management, risk and opportunity management, and delivery. Interpersonal Skills: Strong networking, communication, relationship building, and influencing skills demonstrated across various teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership. Effective negotiation and contractor management skills. Technical Proficiency: IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT-based project management software. Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change. High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work. Engineering Design Review: Experience in engineering design review and assurance processes. Criteria Essential/Desirable Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years' experience in the electric utility industry. Strong experience in project commissioning management, including planning, budget management, risk and opportunity management, and delivery. Experience in engineering design review and assurance processes. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing across various levels Flexible, team player and can work in multi-cultural teams Master's Degree applicable related area preferred.
