Civil Project Engineer

Summary/Objective Responsible for the design and preparation of plans, details, construction budgets, code compliance, design calculations, and specifications for assigned projects. Responsible for implementation of Quality Control - Quality Assurance practices as approved for the project. Work and coordinate with CAD personnel and administrative assistants for compliance with project requirements. Essential Functions Interfaces with various disciplines to ensure design process is coordinated, complete and comprehensive Develops design concepts, studies, design options, and establishes design criteria Performs analysis and design calculations, documents design procedures, and assures design is in compliance with codes and standards Prepares the design documents including schematics, design details, calculations, specifications, and utility coordination Prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates and commissioning documents Maintains the project records for information and data necessary for documentation of the design process Monitors projects to assure schedule, budget and design are consistent with project criteria and scope of work Recognizes scope creep and brings to the attention of the Project Manager Prepares and coordinates the design of assigned civil, transportation, structural and/or site engineering plans Coordinates and completes all permits requirements Performs field investigations and construction inspection duties as assigned Performs other duties as required by Project Managers/Department Manager Education/Experience/Skills B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or related fields 4-10 years of engineering, transportation and site development experience Demonstrates the ability to exercise good engineering judgment Computer skills and knowledge in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Schedule and other related windows based and engineering software is required Good oral and written communication skills Ability to write reports, cost estimates, and scheduling Professional license is preferred Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
