Diagnosis and Management of Eye Conditions: Identify and diagnose common eye conditions and disorders, such as refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism), presbyopia, dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis, and minor ocular injuries. Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications (e.g., artificial tears, topical antibiotics), and provide patient education on ocular hygiene and self-care. Perform comprehensive eye assessments, monitor ocular health, and recommend visual aids or low vision devices to enhance functional vision and quality of life in older adults. Preventive Eye Care: Educate patients about the importance of regular eye examinations, proper eye hygiene, and preventive measures to maintain eye health and prevent vision loss. Offer recommendations for protective eyewear, UV protection, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle modifications to minimize the risk of eye disease and injury. Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients about their eye conditions, treatment options, and visual hygiene practices in clear and understandable terms. Provide counseling and support to address patients' concerns, alleviate anxiety, and empower them to actively participate in their eye care. Collaboration and Referral: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including ophthalmologists, primary care physicians, opticians, and occupational therapists, to coordinate patient care and facilitate referrals for specialized treatment or surgical intervention when necessary.
