The Surgical Technologist assists the surgical team in care of patients in the procedure room by arranging instruments, lights and other equipment while insuring sterility and cleanliness.Prepares patient for procedures, passes instruments during procedure, assists in post-operative cleanup and transfer of patient to recovery room. This surgical technologist is under the guidance and direction of the nursing team to accomplish a variety of delegated tasks such as equipment and supply set-up, collection of specimens, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and scopes, including the documentation of cleaning and disinfection processes. Monitors patients during local procedures.Confirms supplies are stocked and available, and they will turn over rooms when a case breaks, moving equipment as needed. What you will do as a Surgical Technologist (Procedure Center): Assist with preparing patients for procedures including vital signs and screening questions. Transport patients within the department. Assist the provider during procedures:handling forceps, snares, tomes, baskets and balloons under the guidance of the provider. Reprocesses and maintains equipment according to standards of infection prevention. Transports contaminated equipment to the sterile processing department and obtains scopes for subsequent cases. Turns over rooms between patients/procedures. Restocks supplies following standard work Assures proper identification and handling of specimens. Assists in transfer/positioning of patients. Cleans, replenishes and sterilizes instruments and supplies as needed. What you will need: 2 years of operating room experience with knowledge of AORN standards. Ability to effectively use technology and medical/surgical terminology. Knowledge of safe surgery processes. Ability to work effectively surgical team and anticipates next steps. 'Excellent verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal, collaboration and organizational skills. Preferred qualifications: Preferred endoscopy tech experience.
