What We Are Looking For: As a Substation Engineer at PSE, your primary responsibility will be to deliver expert consulting services to our clients. This will encompass electrical substation design, project management, system design support, and operational assistance. You will also plan, organize, and guide electrical design for projects and engage with clients and team members to ensure precise, top-quality, and on-time project deliverables within budget. This work takes a self-starter motivated to deliver quality service to our clients. Actively support a wide range of electrical design and technical consulting services for PSE's utility clients, including, but not limited to, projects related to substation design and protection and control systems. Support substation design services by industry standards and established PSE guidelines, including, but not limited to, engineering design, drawings development, bidding and procurement, contract preparation, construction management, and technical review support. Coordinate with construction crews to install facilities per the design. Occasional site visits to conduct inspections, provide construction supervision, and/or uphold contractors' adherence to PSE designs, contract documents, and industry standards. Responsible for quality control and technical review of projects and the work of others to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client requirements, and related specifications. This may also include sealing projects with their Professional Engineering licensure. Collaborate and communicate effectively with other PSE departments to meet regional electric utility clients' needs. Proactively pursue continued education, training, and certifications to maintain Professional Engineering licensure. Control expenditures and hours within the limitations of the project budget. Work cooperatively with other PSE team members to improve our efficiencies and work product. What You Will Need: Education and Experience A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or a related field is required. Mid-level or greater; greater than five years of experience in the utility industry, specifically in engineering and design of electrical substations. Professional Engineer license or ability to be licensed in states where PSE conducts business. Experience leading design projects. Knowledge and Skills The candidate shall be self-motivated and have experience in power system planning, protection, design, and operations. Working knowledge of computer software, including AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Word, is required. Working knowledge of applicable NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards and electric codes is highly preferred. Possess the ability to achieve quality results, be change-oriented, foster innovation, and be a continuous learner. Use effective communication skills (both written and oral), be customer-driven, and display teamwork behavior.
