Responsibilities include initial billing, investigation and reconciliation of problem claims, insurance follow up, filing, and other clerical tasks. Responsibilities: Prepares and submits claims to third party payers to obtain reimbursement for patient care. Enters and reconciles billing and payment data on an automated system to maintain and update receivable status of patients' account. Makes inquiries of medical records and admitting staff for clarification of diagnosis, insurance coverage or for other details necessary for the completion of required forms and maintenance of records. Interacts with the Admitting Office, Business Office, or Medical Records Department to provide updated billing information. Communicates with carriers and other third party payers by means of correspondence or by telephone to determine proper billing and receivable status. Maintains and updates files and patient records with pertinent billing information. Handles routine billing inquiries from patients, third party payors and other hospital staff. Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Billing experience preferred. Will provide training. Education: High school or equivalency diploma, required. Licenses / Certifications: Other: Possess strong communication skills, and Microsoft office aptitude (Word/Excel/Outlook. Must be comfortable with data entry utilizing multiple patient access programs and software. Knowledge of word processing and excel spreadsheets. Work effectively in a multi task fast paced environment prioritizing and completing tasks in a timely manner. Problem solving skills and attention to detail to assess and resolve conflict in a timely manner. Proficient in oral and written communications. Handles difficult or upset callers with the utmost professionalism and compassion. Special Requirements: Knowledge of Patient management System(s), payer websites, medical terminology, Medicare medical necessity and commercial authorizations.
