UPMC Hamot, a Magnet designated facility located in Erie, PA is hiring a Clinician to join 4MRIU! UPMC Hamot's Medical Respiratory Intermediate Unit is a medical/respiratory intermediate and trauma step-down unit. It cares for patients with trauma and respiratory complications needing advanced, but not critical care. Services include Bipap, high flow oxygen, CPAP, Aquanox therapy, dialysis, mechanical ventilation, and more. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience. Overview: The Clinician is a nurse leader responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and serving as a professional nursing practice role model. Reporting to the Unit Director or department manager, the Clinician conducts employee evaluations, manages staff selection and hiring, and oversees daily performance of direct reports. They provide service-based education, clinical expertise, orientation, training, practice consultation, and coordination of clinical activities. Additionally, the Clinician may be accountable for delivering nursing care during shifts when necessary. Completes or assists with staff performance evaluations. Minimum 3 years of nursing experience Master's degree preferred BS/BSN required; if BS degree not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse Ability to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages served by the assigned unit Knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span Ability to assess patient data and interpret information to meet age-specific needs Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handling multiple and changing priorities and specialized equipment Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to patient care Critical thinking skills to lead others in applying the nursing process Mobility and visual manual dexterity Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire or transfer. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) within 6 months of hire or transfer into department. Registered Nurse (RN) current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state. Act 34 National Certification preferred.
