Electrical Engineer Position Summary: The Electrical Engineer will provide electrical engineering support to the Land Based Engineering Test Site (LBES) for the US Navy. Clearance Required: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provide engineering/technical support for concept studies; feasibility studies; preliminary design activities; contract design activities; detail design and construction activities; independent design reviews; In-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation support; and special studies related to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment. Conduct reliability, maintainability, availability, transportability, hazard, environmental, occupational health, safety, risk analyses, and other system engineering analyses. The Contractor shall provide reports, plans, and other substantiating documentation as required. Facilitate and provide required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The Contractor shall perform research and work along with NSWCPD, Fincantieri Marinette Marine, PMS515 and other key stakeholders. . Provide support in the development, analysis, testing and certification of materials and their application. Review, maintain and make recommendations with regard to engineering plans, annual reports, program records, technical manuals, design histories, design configurations, databases, regulatory body and other documents. Support ongoing ship Detail Design requirements, including the review of shipbuilder's products and deliverables in accordance with Government requirements including MIL-STD, MIL-Specs, Ship design specs and NSTM, and the preparation of analyses and recommendations for decisions to the Program Office. Knowledge in engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards in order to conceive or apply new applications/developments to resolve Client problems/conditions for advanced technologies for LBT/ES systems engineering and engineering resources Required Education, Skills, and Experience: Bachelors of Science in Electrical or Electronic Engineering 3+ years required Understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards Preferred Skills and Experience: Knowledge of project management processes Familiarity of Navy procedures and policies (DoD 5000 acquisition processes) Familiarity of ship operations and/or shipboard testing Hands-on experience using design and calculation software Ability to run model based simulations and analyze test data against simulation results Knowledge of the Navy's organizational structure/inter-relationships Have familiarity with electrical control systems Familiarity with Navy Shipboard Electric Plant Architecture and Power Generation, Regulation, Protection and Distribution System.
