Description FLSA Employment Status: Nonexempt/Hourly JOB SUMMARY Assists in the Nursing Home program activities for the residents, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guideline and regulations, established facility policies and procedures, and under the direction of the Nursing Home Activities Coordinator. Reporting Structure: Reports to the Nursing Home Activities Coordinator MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education High School diploma or GED Equivalent Work Experience Previous work experience with the elderly in a health care environment preferred Previous work experience in an activity program preferred. Conducts in-room activities with room-bound residents. Transports residents to / from activities. Assists with special events, including event grilling, preparation, setup, takedown, and cleanup. Completes errands for Activities Coordinator Maintains Activities-related areas and supplies & equipment, including keeping patios clean and in order, keeping plants watered, keeping closets in order, etc. Maintains van - keeps clean and in safe running order Drives van to carry residents to doctors' appointments, field trips, church, etc. Maintains and stocks residents' snacks OTHER DUTIES Makes trips to WalMart and Lowes for resident and activities supplies. Makes trips to Storage Area and Storage Building to take / retrieve supplies. Distributes monthly calendars, weekly newspapers, personal mail, and other materials, as needed. Other duties, as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Prolonged periods of standing and walking Must be able to see with corrective eye wear Must be able to hear clearly with assistance May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases Able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary Transferring, repositioning patients. Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests including random and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
