Position Information Position Title Certified Pharmacy Technician Status Job Summary Responsible for dispensing medications as prescribed by the clinicians and the pharmacist. Maintains records by recording and filing clinicians' prescriptions. Essential Job Duties Responsible for organizing medications for pharmacist to dispense, prepai'es labels, calculates quantities, assembles intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies Responsible for receiving, storage, stocking, shipping and inventory of all pharmacy supplies. Maintains inventory and stocking of the Large Animal Hospital and Small Animal Hospital dispensaries and emergency carts. Performs monthly inventory checks of supplies, equipment and remove expired drugs. Responsible for placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipts. Maintains files of pharmacy invoices and receipts. Able to apply provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other laws as pertains to maintenance of pharmacy records/prescriptions. Maintenance of files for all controlled substances in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Maintains prescription drug files in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Adheres to infectious disease protocols and policies. Assists pharmacist to prepare reports. Performs all clerical duties for the pharmacy. Responsible for completion of three (3) hours of continuing education annually. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) High school diploma, or GED equivalent Additional training and certification as a Pharmacy Technician Physical Demands Skills and Attributes Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups (faculty, staff, students, and client Good interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to perform duties using Word, Excel, and possess basic computer skills Is detailed oriented; has organizational, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
