Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic energy storage product development team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing cutting-edge energy storage solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical system design, familiarity with relevant codes and standards, and expertise in component selection and sizing. Ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and be excellent at multi-tasking. This job is based at ONE's headquarters in Novi, MI Responsibilities Design and develop electrical systems for energy storage products, ensuring compliance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and other relevant codes and standards. Conduct component sizing and selection, considering factors such as voltage ratings, current carrying capacity, thermal characteristics, and efficiency. Perform cable and conduit sizing and selection based on project requirements and electrical load calculations. Perform grounding studies and design grounding systems to meet safety and operational requirements. Develop and review comprehensive wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical layouts using computer-aided design (CAD) software, capturing system architecture, interconnections, and electrical equipment placement. Conduct short circuit analysis to evaluate the behavior of electrical systems under fault conditions and ensure appropriate protective measures are in place. Perform arc flash calculations to determine incident energy levels and develop appropriate safety protocols for personnel working on or near electrical equipment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate grid tie inverters and Li-ion batteries into energy storage systems, ensuring seamless operation and optimal performance. Stay up-to-date with electrical codes in global markets. Support the product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization, by participating in design reviews, testing, and validation activities. Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 3-8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on energy storage, power distribution design or related industries. Strong proficiency in the design of AC & DC electrical systems meeting relevant codes and standards. In-depth knowledge and experience in component sizing and selection for electrical systems. Proficiency in cable and conduit sizing and selection based on load calculations and industry best practices. Proven expertise in creating accurate and detailed electrical diagrams and drawings using CAD software. Experience conducting short circuit analysis and arc flash calculations, ensuring safety and compliance. Familiarity with LV, MV, HVDC, grid tie inverters, Li-ion batteries, and their integration into energy storage systems. Knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, such as IEC, CE, or UL, is helpful. Previous experience in product development, preferably in the energy storage industry, is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
