About the Position This Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) assists the clinical team with interventional procedures, maintaining a sterile field and providing support during pre- and post-procedure activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In this position, you will be responsible for the following duties (among others) Assist clinical team with patient and procedure room preparation and post-procedure clean-up Prepare patients for procedures including but not limited to positioning patients on the procedure room table Gather, arrange, prepare instruments before procedures Remove all instruments, utensils, gloves, linens, and equipment used during the procedure Assist in interventional procedures by scrubbing-in for procedures Maintain sterile field during procedures and notify Interventionalist of any break in sterile procedure which may compromise the procedure or patient safety Pass the Surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout the procedure Transport patients to and from the procedure room Ensure procedures rooms are clean and stocked for future procedures. Other duties required to adequately fulfill the duties of your position include Work overtime with little or no notice as needed Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed Know, understand, and follow company guidelines, policies and procedures policies Know, understand, and comply with all clinical and business policies and procedures Other duties and tasks as assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer applications Proficiency in electronic medical records system Preferred Qualifications 1 year experience assisting in operating room or Ambulatory Surgical Center Two-year associate degree from college accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) NCT or AST certification or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) designation Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Experience using EPIC electronic medical record system Required Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Must have ability to work independently and effectively Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. In general, this position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching and some sitting; ability to use full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift and move supplies. Work Environment Job required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate personal protection measures is required for every healthcare provider in these positions. Require to routinely use standard office equipment such as laptop, computer, mouse, and photocopier. About Balboa United Beginning in 1973, Balboa has grown from two physicians to a comprehensive nephrology team of 52 board certified physicians and 8 advanced practitioners. On January 1, 2018, Balboa Nephrology Medical Group (BNMG) launched Balboa United, a full-service medical practice management services organization. From one small office, BNMG now has 24 clinical offices throughout San Diego, Imperial, Orange and Riverside counties.
