Apex currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. The position is a unique role that will focus on implementing automated material handling projects to improve our client's warehousing and distribution performance, that reduce their cost structures, labor dependencies, and improve their throughput capabilities. Responsibilities Planning, managing and implementing material handling equipment (MHE) projects Support sales efforts by leading quoting process for potential automation projects Preparation of project set-up in Business Central ERP (Order Entry and Vendor PO set-up) Proper file management maintaining shared-drive electronic files for all project documents Issuance and manage vendor POs, manufacturing and delivery schedule Develop detailed project plans for the successful implementation of various MHE products and subsystems including all drawing preparations, mechanical, electrical and controls installation, software implementation, commissioning, testing, training and Go-Live preparations Lead pre-installation walk through, Q&A and project expectations with Vendors (and separately with client, if required) Manage project plan (Apex resource, vendor and client) including work tasks, schedule, budget, issues, risks and resources Prepare and communicate the proper project status on weekly basis Manage project scope, mitigate issues and resolve installation problems Manage Change Orders from request through execution including document management On-site field inspection and supervision, as required, to ensure installation is in accordance with drawings and design specifications and management of vendor and sub-contractor resources Travel is mandatory and level of on-site presence will be driven by project complexity & risk Lead commissioning and system acceptance process Coordinate development and execution of client training (operations, maintenance, and safety) Perform active role in maintaining client relationships Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics or related field Understands material handling system projects, including the flow analysis and controls concept. Material Handling equipment and technologies specification preparation Proficient reading and interpreting CAD drawings Proficient with MS Word and Excel (ACAD a plus) Familiarity with implementation of Material Handling equipment and technologies Ability to work well in team settings Solid communication and organizational skills WMS software systems, ACAD, process automation experience a plus Distribution center and/or Plant layout and design a plus Systems Configuration, testing, and training a plus Hours and Travel Flexible work hours Travel as needed (up to 20%) Compensation and Benefits Competitive base salary with bonus 401K contribution Health, dental, Vision insurance, Short Term Disability Paid time off including holiday and additional sick and vacation leave
