High school diploma or equivalent 2. At least one year of experience as a school nutrition assistant or in other related foodservice 3. Serve Safe Certification or equivalent 4. Valid Driver's License 5. Complete four core training-in-depth coursework or willing to complete at the rate of one per year 6. Knowledgeable of leadership and interpersonal skills 7. Experience working with computer technology and electronic media (e-mail) 8. Neat and professional in appearance 9. Meet all Board of Education Health Requirements 10. Complete courses required by the State of Georgia, School Nutrition Program Reports To: School Nutrition Director, Area School Nutrition Manager, Principal, ordesignee Supervises: Lunchroom Staff Terms of Employment: To be determined by the Board of Education Salary: See Salary Scale Job Goal: To prepare and serve attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of cleanliness, pleasantness and efficiency, while complying with state and federal standards and implementing School Board Policies in support of the district's mission. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1. Follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently 2. Communicate effectively in written and oral form with people using positive interpersonal skills and interact positively with children, other school personnel, and the public 3. Multi-Task various work assignments in a time-efficient manner 4. Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), food safety, and sanitation 5. Basic computer skills 6. Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required 7. Ability to operate Point of Service system and cashier Performance Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Supervises and instructs assigned cafeteria personnel in maintaining nutrition and sanitation standards, food and labor cost control, reports and records (e.g. goal setting and coaching; disciplinary actions; employee relations; etc.) for the purpose of administering the program in accordance with federal/state regulations 2. Understands and can properly complete production records 3. Assesses equipment and supply needs (e.g. provides training for proper use of equipment, including conservation of energy; serves as potential point of contact for refrigeration emergencies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining an adequate inventory to provide nutritional services efficiently and within budget guidelines. 4. Conducts a variety of operations reviews at designated sites (e.g. organization and efficiency of cafeteria operation, etc.) for the purpose of meeting federal, state and local guidelines 5. Coordinates substitute employee schedules (e.g. dispatches substitutes to cover school staff vacancies and absences, etc.) for the purpose of providing coverage for sites as needed. 6. Oversees the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage items at assigned sites (e.g. developing work schedules to achieve maximum efficiency timing meal production with meal period scheduling, etc.) for the purpose of providing for food service that meets mandated nutritional requirements within budget and in accordance with health standards. 7. Performs functions of other positions within the area of responsibility for the purpose of ensuring adequate coverage of food service operations. 8. Prepares documentation (e.g. information to leadership regarding meal period scheduling, ordering procedures, cash handling procedures, free and reduced-price meal accountability, and equipment operation, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. 9. Provides training for safe food handling (e.g. food preparation, health standards, sanitation methods, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with food service program requirements. 10. Reconciles point-of-sale transactions (e.g. meal counts, monies collected, etc.) for the purpose of balancing accounts and adhering to established accounting practices. 11. Promote menu compliance in accordance with USDA guidelines for the purpose of meeting students' mandated daily nutritional requirements. 12. Performs Functions of other related duties within the area of responsibility for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit. Other Functions: Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit may be met Detail-oriented and professional Exceptional communication skills Basic understanding of office equipment Ability to work independently and reliably Flexible and adaptable in various situations and when interacting with many different personalities Ability to organize and prioritize tasks including delegation of tasks when appropriate Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 90% walking/standing, 50% lifting/carrying 25-50 lbs. frequently.
