GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Development and Fundraising Intern will work to increase fundraising and giving efforts to support NCMEC's mission to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. The incumbent will a) consult with the team to identify and qualify major donor prospects who have the propensity and capacity to support NCMEC initiatives and programs, and b) assist with the creation and design of e-mail marketing and web content to successfully segment and target individual donors on dynamic preferences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Development Research Research corporate and foundation prospects that have the propensity to support NCMEC Research high net worth donors in key geographic areas - Analyze and synthesize accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity, and linkages to child safety Prepare prospective donor profiles for use by senior staff Strategic Planning Work with the team to maintain accuracy and integrity of records in the Salesforce database and Volunteer database Support NCMEC's e-mail communications efforts including calendar planning, donor segmentation, dynamic content creation, and promotional asset material design. Assist manager of digital giving with design of specialized web campaigns for both individual and group prospects. Administrative Assist with the formatting of presentations Assist with corporate and foundation thank you letters and acknowledgements Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Completed at least (2) years at an accredited college or university. Academic focus on sales, marketing, communications, or a similar field. Knowledge of Salesforce or other fundraising software is a plus. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with a high level of professionalism. Superior time management and multi-tasking abilities. Must be confident, friendly, professional, and comfortable contacting prospective sponsors. Team player with a "can-do" attitude, empowered to take action and adapt to unexpected changes and requests. Demonstrates significant self-initiative but enjoys being part of a collaborative environment. A personal desire for ongoing learning and to excel in role. An optimistic and positive attitude. Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality. Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities. SALARY: Although internships are unpaid positions, each intern will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience in the position of his/her choosing and will receive academic credit through an approved program at his/her college or as a volunteer. Interns will be reimbursed for parking or public transportation expenses. HOURS: The Development Intern is required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Interns will be excused to attend internship program functions.
