Shift: Full time, Nights, Weekend as needed Reporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging with accountability to the Manager and the Team Facilitator and under the direction of the radiologists, performs MRI procedures with minimal supervision; documents procedures and maintains patient records; maintains patient safety. 1. Performs all established MRI imaging procedures; selects proper technique protocols. 2. Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures; uses immobilization devices, as required. 3. Processes and develops images per established procedures. 4. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric); implements assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Involves family/guardian in plan of care and conducts patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient. 5. Retrieves medications that are not controlled substances. 6. Maintains an orderly and clean work environment. 7. Performs established calibration and quality control procedures to assure optimal quality of MRI equipment and service; notifies supervisor of unusual findings. 8. Participates in maintaining appropriate patient and operational records consistent with the main Radiology Department. 9. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and by reading professional journals; provides input and suggestions regarding technological improvements in MRI services. 10. Attends inservices and technical meetings, as required. *CB Qualifications 1. ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) registered as an MR technologist, OR ARRT registered and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, OR Associate degree or bachelor degree in allied health field, and Certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB), and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, OR Performing MRI prior to and continuously since October 1996, and evaluated by responsible physician to assure competence. 2. One year MRI experience is preferred; expertise in transverse anatomy. 3. Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics. 4. Current CPR certification. 5. The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be anxious or confused and to interact with physicians and other hospital staff. 6. The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and computer codes based on suspected pathology, patient size and age, and other controlling factors. 7. The written and verbal communication skills necessary to document patient procedures and inform patients regarding procedures.
