Job Details Level Entry Job Location Hartford City Mill - Hartford City, IN Position Type Internship Education Level Bachelor's Travel Percentage None Job Shift Day Job Category Manufacturing Duties Process Engineer Intern Production New-Indy Hartford City, LLC is currently accepting applicants for an internship as a Process Engineer at the paper mill located in Hartford City, IN. The selected individual will receive experience in operations pertaining to the paper-making process. The intern will be assigned a minimum of one project to complete during the internship. Individual must be in the accepted in the paper science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering program. This is a paid non-exempt internship position. In addition to salary, the intern will be provided a stipend to help offset housing costs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide Production Team support as directed Learn and apply knowledge within the containerboard field Assist with developing operator interfaces to promote efficient operation, effective standard operation procedures (SOPs) and improved process monitoring of key operating parameters. Keep abreast of liner and medium paper making industry trends and recommend/implement improvements as appropriate. Work with paper testing equipment technicians and assist in the paper testing lab Work with production manager in the execution mill goals. Effectively coordinates work with other groups within the company. Assists employees in gathering and analyzing data used in continuous improvement efforts. Assist in maintenance projects that involve instrumentation and process control. Assist operations in managing shutdown jobs Intern will be assigned a project to complete during the internship. The project will be based on the needs of the mill and will be geared to enhance the skills of the intern. Qualifications Must be in the process of pursuing a Paper Science or Engineering Degree Must be entering Junior or Senior year Developmental: Strong technical background desired Strong written and oral correspondence Developmental: Knowledge of processes, wet end chemistry, paper testing procedures, and Root Failure Cause analysis (RFCA) related to quality or process failures Participate with all departments in continuous improvement of the mill. To perform this job successfully, an individual should also be able to navigate through various software platforms. Ability to be part of a multi-functional/multi-skill organization APPROXIMATE DATES OF INTERNSHIP: Summer of 2024. These dates are flexible.
