Customer Service skills are a must. Opticians must be in touch with the current trends and fashions. Our practice has very short Saturday hours, and no Sundays. Using the latest technology, we are able to offer our patients state of the art lenses and treatments. Compensation is hourly, competitive, and flexible depending on years of experience. We are a large practice and have a full benefits package with very affordable healthcare. Particulars: You have the opportunity to earn commission on all of your sales. There is a 4 part monthly bonus. The first part is a % of monthly sales at your location. The other three parts are tiered and based on location conversion, average $ patient sales, and % of patient premium frame sales. Pay listed on ad is a range and hourly base rate is determined by years of experience in the optical industry. Opportunity is higher based on your ability to lead a team than higher range posted. We use several programs from Ken Blanchard (SSLII, Coaching Essentials, One Minute Manager, and more) as well as DISC communication styles to enhance overall associate and customer experience. Hours are mostly M-F but Lead Opticians often rotate and work Saturdays and on those weeks take a day off during the week. The position is salary with paid days during emergency closings, major holidays, and you accrue paid time off. PAL accrual is 2 weeks the first year and you go to 3 weeks after the first year. 4 weeks at 5 years and 5 weeks of PAL after 10 years. 10 year employees get 80% of medical expenses paid, plus other tenured perks. General Requirements - Uphold Beach Eye Care's standards of customer service at all times. - Handle all customer service opportunities using Beach Eye Care best practices. "Always do what is best for the patient." - Meet all requirements listed on the Optical Sales Consultant and Licensed Optician job description. - Act as the floor leader and handle patient flow into the department and organize sales force to maximize flow efficiency. Must be able to maintain flow during peak volume periods while maintaining the integrity of the Doctor Driven Process (DDP). - Be able to handle all departmental inventory needs in the current POS software. - Be able to do a physical inventory count on one frame line a week. - Be able to effectively coach employees in all matters pertaining to daily operations and processes including DDP. - Assist in interviewing and the selection process. - Train new employees and train established employees of new processes, usage of new equipment and or software. - Direct the work of employees as the locations lead. - Provide feedback to add to associate's annual evaluation. - Handle employee complaints and grievances, keeping the Director apprised. - Be able to provide support for other locations in the event that the Director is out. - Motivate Optical employees to make departmental goals using old or new methods as training provides. - Appraise employees' productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status. - Collaborate and help to implement new policies handed down by Administration and the Director. - Monitor and or implement legal compliance measures. - Be able to do basic front desk tasks and dispense contacts when patients are picking up. - Communicate with the Optical Director about the departmental needs for their respective office. - Communicate with the Director about any concerns, attendance, and training opportunities within the optical department and out of the department if they effect any aspect of the business or customer service. Work Experience - Management experience required. - Must be customer service oriented, have a strong sense of team work, and be able to resolve problems. - Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated. - Should be able and willing to give and receive constructive feedback. - Must be able to create solutions to opportunities presented in the everyday work environment or new policy implementation. - Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed. Must be flexible to any new changes in clinic and business hours or needs. *This list is not inclusive of all optical duties and may change as business needs change. Requirements Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED Opticians License for the state of Virginia preferred (if not licensed must acquire state license within 3 years of hire date) ABO Certification preferred. Enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program to become a Licensed Optician is accepted. Salary Description $49k to $62K
