Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a full-time (37.5 Hours) Ultrasound Technician at our East Columbus Surgical Center. SUMMARY The Surgical Services Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing limited ultrasounds, providing abortion information to clients, assisting in medical procedures, and handling clerical tasks. This professional is dedicated to upholding high standards of client care and exceptional customer service. In line with the PPGOH Ultrasound Standard Operating Procedures, the Surgical Services Ultrasound Technician will work to support the Director of Ultrasound Services and the Director of Surgical Services to ensure abortion and ultrasound services accordance with PPGOH standards and guidelines as well as operating in compliance to all applicable regulatory bodies. WHAT YOU WILL BRING Certificate or diploma in clinical or medical ultrasound, or enrollment in program with an anticipated graduation date in the next 90 days required ARDMS Certification strongly preferred but not required Ultrasound training experience preferred Additional Medical / Health Care related certificate or diploma preferred Willingness and ability to learn new skills appropriate to PPGOH clinical duties. Able to work cooperatively as a member of a health care delivery team. Perform ultrasound imaging procedure of clients for the purposes of pregnancy dating, identification of the presence or absence of cardiac activity, and fetal number. Set up and maintain ultrasound equipment, demonstrating proficiency in handling high-level disinfectants. Addressing patients' concerns before, during and after ultrasound examinations Keep accurate records of scans performed and images produced Screen medical and social history with correct documentation of pertinent information. Properly cleans, maintains equipment, and disposes of contaminated supplies. Maintain clear and accurate medical records, utilizing electronic health record system. Provides direct patient care as scheduled, in compliance with all affiliate protocols and procedures, to include education and counseling patients, maintaining medical records and logs, documenting Care Paths, scheduling patients and responding in a professional manner to the need of patients. Provides abortion clients with accurate information regarding PPGOH services, including questions pertaining to abortion and contraception options as well as funding sources. Familiar with health center funding sources, billing systems and medical coding. Assists in surgical procedures by providing intraoperative scans. Provides pregnancy testing, information, and referrals. Collects and prepares lab specimens, including venipuncture and urine collection. Prepares abortion rooms and maintains cleanliness and inventory of the lab area and exam rooms. Communicates with co-workers to keep client visits moving in a timely manner. Maintains confidentiality and exercises sensitivity and a nonjudgmental manner in dealing with sexuality and sensitive issues with clients. Maintain a detailed understanding of and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to the operations of the Health Center including, OSHA, CLIA, and ODH and their healthcare reporting requirements. Participates in PPGOH professional development including service expansion and ongoing staff competency.
