Job Type Full-time Description The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the project team in producing projects of high technical quality, on time, and within budget. This includes assisting the project leader(s) with technical studies, investigations, reports, and the design of electrical systems, including but not limited to, lighting, power, emergency power, low voltage and fire alarm distribution systems. Prepare drawings detailing the system(s) designed in AutoCAD and/or Revit. Perform calculations for lighting systems and associated controls. Perform and document energy compliance calculations and forms. Prepare load analysis for different stages of design. Perform project site visits to investigate conditions and monitor progress based on design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes. Prepare condition assessments and reports. Prepare proposals, submittals, and bidding documents. Coordinate and communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally internally with team and project leader along with external consultants, contractors, clients, owners, and other SKA disciplines. Attend design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives, as necessary. Demonstrate a desire to advance technical and project management knowledge and skills. Actively participate in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the firm may be enhanced. Employee must be able to travel to jobsites as needed, 10% to 20% of the time, including overnight periodically. Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university. Relevant internship(s) and/or experience preferred. Must be knowledgeable of power, lighting, low voltage and fire alarm distribution systems with the ability to assist senior engineers throughout design. Must be knowledgeable of National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72), and North Carolina State Building Codes. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Valid driver's license. Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification. Must be able to complete required OSHA training. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and SKM is preferred. Familiarity with Bluebeam is a plus.
