Per Diem Optometrist US-NY-New York Job ID: Type: Student Health Center # of Openings: 1 Category: Health Services New York University Overview Licensed Optometrist, OD. The NYU Student Health Center (SHC) is seeking a part-time per diem Optometrist 7-14 hours per week, to provide eye care services to our undergraduate and graduate students. Working on-site in a dedicated Optometry suite, the Optometrist will perform routine and diagnostic eye care and treatment of eye diseases consistent with NYS law, including: Comprehensive eye exams Routine Vision Evaluation Routine dilated fundus examination Visual Field Testing Spectacle Rx Fitting of Soft and RGP contact lenses, including evaluation of existing lenses the patient is wearing Emergency office visits Consulting with ophthalmologist regarding patient's condition Working with a motivated and diverse student population is rewarding, and the team works well together to assure the best service in support of students' academic success Responsibilities Required Education/licensures/certifications: OD degree Licensed as an optometrist in New York State Certification in the use of Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPAs) BLS certification. Required Experience: Minimum 2 years clinical experience as an Optometrist, eligibility to obtain medical liability insurance. Approval for clinical privileges by the Credentials Committee. Preferred Experience: Experience working in a multi-specialty and/or Student Health practice setting. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Qualifications In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, th e hourly rate range for this position i s $80.
