We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner who will provide clinical and administrative coverage at the Latham Employee Health & Wellness Center in Washington, DC. The position reports directly to the Clinical Coordinator for the Latham/JHU partnership. The position also works closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine as well as the HR and benefits team at Latham. This position will be responsible for caring for Latham employees, maintaining accurate and current medical records and scheduling and administering follow up appointments to patients as required. Position will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver premium, age-appropriate care to both well and ill Latham employees. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Provide on-site clinical services at the Latham clinic in Washington, DC to include occupational, non-occupational/urgent care and preventive (health promotion) services. Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses. Dispense over the counter and prescription medications in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with minor work-related and non-work-related concerns (back pain, headache, pharyngitis). Provide an integrated care approach to managing illnesses of the Latham employee population to include screenings, check-ups, monitoring and coordinating treatment and patient education. Provide on-site specimen/lab collection for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP. Analyze test data and determine the need for follow up appointments and referrals. Provide on-site testing for strep pharyngitis, UTI, influenza, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, etc. Provide support and case management for both work-related and non-work-related conditions for the purposes of reducing illness and absenteeism. Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers' compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols. Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program. Coordinate, plan, and deliver monthly health education seminars and general wellness events in coordination with overall Latham initiatives. Serve as a resource to employees for ongoing care information, counseling and provision of guidance for employees with serious needs. Provide referrals for Latham employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist in adherence to company protocols. Perform on-site physical assessments (pre-placement, return to work, fitness for duty) as required by Latham. Provide travel immunizations and guidance for employees traveling abroad for company business. Provide on-site patient education regarding illnesses, medications, treatments, etc. Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist to facilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health problems. Provide crisis management/intervention, as needed. Provide general medical advice to the Latham Human Resources department. Ensure the provision of prompt, appropriate clinical care to all patients in accordance with Latham and Johns Hopkins University protocols, State regulations and professional standards. Develop relationships with clinical providers in the area to provide back-up clinical care. Ensure Latham onsite clinic facility is neat, clean, and attractive. Develop and implement new administrative policies and procedures as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the Latham onsite clinic. Other duties/responsibilities as requested by JHU/Latham Administrative services provided to Latham include Maintain and revise as needed nursing procedures, protocols and standing orders. Maintain adequate clinical supplies. Maintain CLIA licensure for required lab testing provided on-site. Maintain patient medical records. Work collaboratively with the HR and Benefits team to Coordinate and plan health and wellness events and initiatives. Expand clinic services. Demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence e.g. Looks beyond self to understand other's emotions and motivations. Works well with a variety of people. Able to build bridges and mend fences. Can understand another's point of view, "walk in another's shoes". Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care. Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families and interdisciplinary health care team members. Advanced written and interpersonal communication skills necessary to interview, teach and counsel patients and interact with management and executive team of Latham. Prioritizes and organizes work to meet the changing priorities of the onsite health center. Analyzes research findings and current trends in area of specialty and applies, as appropriate, to improve the management of patient care. Ability to function in an exemplary fashion to achieve goals. A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, disease management and testing procedures. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Registered/certified by the District of Columbia Board of Nursing. Preferred Qualifications Minimum twelve months of related experience (adult medicine). Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers' Compensation, and DOT exams. DOT Medical Examiner preferred. Certified Urine Drug Screen Collector preferred. Certified Breath Alcohol Technician preferred. Experience in chronic disease management and health promotion preferred. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.
