We're enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come. So, what will you be doing?Using HMI tools, you will monitor all incoming fiber, manage the drying processes and production of pellets and finally the movement of pellets into railcars. As well, you must monitor and communicate any safety-related concerns either directly to plant employees or to the Plant Leadership team.As part of your duties, you will: Maintains Drax's high standards of housekeeping within the department and with the participation of all team membersUtilizes SDS for all chemicals used in the production and ensures all employees are adequately trained on their useComplete all safety related Plant Operator Development Program training requirements as required by each LevelParticipate and communicate on the company radio's following Drax's Radio Usage ProcedureMaintain radio communication that is brief, clear, in a natural speaking voice and contains only essential instructions and InformationActive involvement in Drax OH&S CommitteeCommunicate and provide leadership to all employees through the Pellet manufacturing process, promoting and supporting compliance to Safety, Production, Quality and operating policies and procedures   Maintain composure while leading, communicating and directing plant employees during times of upset conditions including unsafe conditions or emergency evacuationsTroubleshoot both minor and major upset conditions providing direction to plant employeesProvide technical training support and mentorship to peers as well as to Operators in the Plant Operator Development ProgramParticipate and provide leadership in training of mobile equipment, confined space, Hazard Identification, etcParticipate, where required, in incident and accident investigationCoordinate holiday planning to ensure continual coverage of necessary positions within the plantLiaise with other Drax management including HR, Safety, Training and Senior Executives.Provide leadership and direction at all plant employees in the safe operation of all equipment used in the process to make pellets. This includes but is not limited to monitoring moistures, Pelleter temperatures, Pelleter in-feed speed, bulk densities, dryer temperatures, Scrubber operations, motor amps and all necessary processes related to production. The operation of the plant starts at the scale, tippers and in-feed pads where the raw fiber is delivered by truckTroubleshoot and make adjustments to the in-feed mixes and direct the Loader Operators according to type of fiber and moistures of the fiberContinually monitor and analyze HMI systemReview notes with cross shift Operator at beginning and end of each shift communicating fiber mixes, overviews of equipment efficiencies, expected delays or upset conditionsManage and communicate fiber needs coordinating with the Loader Operator as well as with the Production Team Leads to ensure Pelleters have enough fiber to continue production  Communicate housekeeping needs to Utility that support all activities keeping the pellet mill clean and mitigating unacceptable levels of dust accumulationConduct testing and complete necessary reports on moisture contentDirect and communicate to all employees on shift as to what mix is to be received and when to load rail carsWho you are?You possess the following skills, abilities, and experience:Able to operate mobile equipment safely and efficientlyCan complete forms and basic checklists associated with cleanup and rail car loadingAdaptable to changes in work schedules or work tasksMust be a team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving skillsHigh school diploma or equivalent Experience in heavy industry operations an asset Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills Good mechanical aptitude Valid Driver's license What's it like to work at Drax?The Perks: A competitive hourly wage, with opportunities to move into different positions as you gain experience.Great benefits starting day 1 and a 401K matching plan to support your personal and family goals.A supportive team environment where you will continuously learn and grow.A 401K matching plan to support your personal and family goals (also starting from day one at Drax!).A company bonus plan which rewards overall Drax performance, safety, and scorecard achievement.We're committed to making a tangible impact on the climate challenge we all face.
