NP/ PA Job DescriptionWelcome to Allied Digestive Health! We are seeking a Full Time and/or Part Time PA or NP to join our team in Brooklyn NY, at the prestigeous office of Dr. David WolfsonThis is an Office Based opportunity.Summary: The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations. This position must comply with the standards of care, which include without limitation assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status and clinical management. The practice is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members.Essential Responsibilities:Functions independently treating patients in the office environment . Elicits full and accurate patient histories while meeting with patient.Performs an appropriate patient physical examination and identifies any problems.Records all information discovered and interprets and presents the information to the supervising physician.Orders and interprets diagnostic tests relative to patient's specific needs, such as la b work and radiology.Analyze and interpret patients' history, symptoms, physical finding, or diagnostic information to develop an appropriate diagnosis.Develops treatment plans for standard care and professional practice guidelines.Diagnoses and treats problems jointly with supervising physician.Interpret and present information to supervising physician.Prescribe medication dosages, routes, and frequencies based on patients' medical history.Counsel patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements and over-the-counter medication.Compiles and records/dictate pertinent narrative case summaries.Educates patients and family members about management of acute or chronic illness, prescribed medications, disease, activity restrictions and diet, if applicable.Assists physicians in the office when needed, including without limitation triage/review incoming phone calls/texts/pages and appropriately respond in a timely, efficient and professional manner.When a physician is out for the day/week, review all tasks regarding patients.Assist staff with emergency calls when there are no physicians are in the office.Assists with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.Abides by the policies, procedures, guidelines, rules, testing, security administration and confidentiality of the Patients and Practice under the guidelines of OSHA and HIPAA Laws safeguards.Performs other duties as required .Essential Skills:Prior GI Experience a preference for this role. Knowledge of pertinent medical and drug information necessary to examine and treat gastroenterological patients.Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Comfortable multi-tasking with a sharp attention to detailCan perform duties accurately in a timely and efficient manner.Can demonstrate exemplary patient service skills and display courteousness and respect. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to remain cordial throughout the workday as well as to maintain patience in occasional stressful situations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Computer skills: Electronic medical records, MS OfficeDemonstrates strong time management skills and organizational skills.Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA Laws and safeguards and is able to follow these guidelines at all timesEducation and Experience Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program (for NP position)Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program (for PA position)Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) LicensureCurrent DEA certificateSupervisory Responsibility: NoneWork EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional medical office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as medical equipment.
