Special Education TeacherJob Overview Ro Health is hiring a Special Education School teacher to start ASAP in Morgan Hill, CA. Position Overview Special Education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. They adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, from math to English, in a way that is easier to understand for students with mild and moderate disabilities. They also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities. Start: ASAP Hours: 745am-3:00pm Monday-Friday *Hours could vary based on location Compensation: Starting at $80/hr based on experience and qualifications *Must have Education Specialist Credential from the Commission of Teacher Credentialing in California. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: May include but not limited to: Assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plansAdapt lessons to meet the needs of studentsHelp develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each studentUpdate IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students' progress and goalsPlan, organize, and assign activities specific student abilitiesTeach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-oneAssess students' performance and progress periodicallyDiscuss student's progress with parents, general education teachers, counselors, and administratorsPrepare and help students transition from grade to gradeComply will all company policies and applicable lawsHandles all other duties as assignedQualifications & Skills REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree - no specific majorEducation Specialist credential certificate from the Commision of Teaching and Credentialing in CaliforniaPREFERRED SKILLS: AdaptableDeadline orientedDetail OrientedStrong Communication SkillsStrong Critical Thinking SkillsStrong Interpersonal SkillsPatienceResourcefulnessUpbeatIndependentWorking conditions (if applicable) Occasional evening work to meet with parents or administrators Supervision Received The special education teacher will report to the School Administrator and Superintendent. Supervision is often minimal to general. Supervision Exercised The Special Education teacher will often supervise Teaching Assistants in day to day activities along with being the sole supervisor at times for the students.
