The successful candidate will be responsible for providing visionary leadership that aligns with the department's mission to educate students in the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology. This includes mentoring faculty, maintaining productive relationships with various stakeholders, and overseeing the department's operations and budget. The Chair will also be involved in teaching, research, and scholarship, and will be expected to support faculty in these areas, as well as in their professional development and advancement. Applicants for the Chair position must have a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related field, and be eligible for tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. While not mandatory, a background in language and literacy, expertise in speech, language, or hearing, and a record of leadership in research, teaching, and extramural funding are preferred. The role requires experience in program accreditation, and a strong administrative and leadership background in academic settings. The Chair will be expected to participate in program development, curricular changes, and other academic activities, and to manage the department and clinic budgets effectively.
