JOB PURPOSE: To prevent the loss of any of the company's assets when possible and to recover those assets and apprehend the individuals that cause a loss when necessary. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Investigate and apprehend internal and external theft subjects via use of CCTV and plain clothes operations. Prepare written incident reports, catalog evidence and coordinate prosecution with the Loss Prevention Manager and outside law enforcement agencies. Receive and retain information transmitted by radio communications on calls for service, lookouts, etc. Proper evaluation of the information and determination of the appropriate course of action consistent with training and procedure, often under very stressful circumstances Physically take control of situations when required and intervene in physical altercations to subdue attacking or resisting subjects. Exercise good judgment in determining course of action, when to use force and the appropriate level of force, with emphasis on problem solving techniques and alternative solutions. Submit comprehensive and legible incident reports within specified time periods, using correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Be prepared to testify in court if necessary. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent- some college preferred. Valid driver's license and successful completion of Darien Lake Vehicle Training program. Successful completion of all required Security Guard training as defined by the New York State Division of Licensing Services. Proven experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web-based and data-management applications. Good organizational, documentation, interpretive, interviewing and interrogation skills. One year previous loss prevention experience preferred. Must be able to pass a criminal, drug, alcohol, and social security background check. Ability to read, write and speak English in a clear effective manner, using proper pronunciation, diction, and grammar. Available to work weekends, holidays and overtime. Attention to detail. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to quickly and effectively respond to situations requiring physical stamina and force. OTHER FUNCTIONS: Any and all other duties that is assigned or necessary in order to support the Security Department and the park as a whole.
