Hygiene and toileting support may be required.General classroom supports: providers who are assigned to work with a single teacher or classroom. In this role, providers will support wherever they are needed most by the teacher. Typically every day looks different in this position, and you may be working with several different students throughout your day.Calm, clear, and concise communication with both children and adultsAbility to run and stand, walk, and sit for long periods of timePotential need to frequently bend, crouch, and lift (up to 40 pounds)Potential toileting and/or wheelchair assistanceQualifications: EducationH.S. Diploma or equivalentHave obtained an associate (or higher) degree, orHave at least two years of post-secondary education equaling a minimum of 48 credit hours from an accredited higher education institution, orHave met a rigorous standard on one of the formal Massachusetts-endorsed Assessments: Parapro or WorkKeysBasic Knowledge of Autism and Special NeedsUnderstanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other common special needs, gained through coursework, volunteer experience, or personal interest. Experience working with childrenStrong Communication and Interpersonal SkillsAbility to effectively communicate with students, parents, and other professionals in a compassionate and clear manner.Empathy, Patience, and FlexibilityA compassionate, patient, and flexible attitude when working with children, understanding that each student has unique needs and learning styles.Pass a background check through the iCORI, a service of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS)Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Childcare or EducationPrevious experience working with children, either in a formal setting like a school or informally, such as through babysitting or volunteering with youth programs.Familiarity with IEP/BIPsKnowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)Familiarity with ABA techniques and strategies for behavior management and skill development.Previous experience in a school, clinic, or similar environment working directly with students with autism and other developmental disabilitiesCrisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) cardBenefits (eligibility dependent on employment status): Paid time offMedical, dental, and vision coverage401K with employer matchingDirect depositSingle point of contact Does this role sound like the right fit for you?
