At Barnard, we build the riskiest, most difficult, complex jobs we can find and we hire people who thrive on tough work and demanding opportunities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Must possess competence in the following areas in order to perform this role in a safe, productive and effective manner:Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials requiredShape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power sawsMeasure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk and marking gaugeVerify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and levelAssembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glueMay be required to use the following tools/equipment: carpenter's hand tools, small/medium/large power tools, bench tools (saw, drill, grinder), concrete saw, chipper, sanderWhen not performing the above mentions essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by supervisorFollow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environmentPhysical Requirements: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screenAbility to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 25 poundsAbility to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawlAbility to correctly rig and hoist materialAbility to tolerate heights without fearAbility to maintain balanceAbility to stand or walk for long periods of time, reach for, handle, and manipulate items and to work in extreme weather conditions (cold and wet)Able to work long, irregular and varied hours, 50 to 70 hours per weekAbility to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal , state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
