The Certified Welder specializing in chiller plant pipe fitting is capable of performing a variety of welding functions in all positions, including structural plate and 6G pipe using SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes. The ideal candidate demonstrates a willingness to cross-train and contribute to multi-function structural and piping assembly processes, ensuring the seamless fabrication and assembly of modular chiller plant systems. Pay Rate: up to $38/hr DOE Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm Role Description:The Certified Welder will execute precision welding tasks to fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems used in large-scale HVAC chiller plants. This position demands a high degree of technical skill, unwavering attention to detail, and adherence to stringent safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Perform welding tasks using techniques such as MIG, TIG, SMAW, and FCAW to construct and repair piping systems in chiller plants. Fluent in understanding job-specific WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Records) and capable of setting up the machine to perform in all positions to meet certified testing criteria. Analyze blueprints for weld insignia and apply the appropriate welding techniques to assembly components on piping and structural systems. Identify, measure, hand dress, cut, and fit metal surfaces for welding according to job-specific requirements. Conduct visual observations of pre- and post-welded surfaces and use precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance with job requirements. Technically proficient in interpreting insufficient weld criteria and applying knowledge to efficiently blend and repair welds. Collaborate with pipefitters and team members to ensure smooth integration of piping components within HVAC systems. Maintain welding tools, equipment, and machinery in optimal working condition to maximize productivity and efficiency. Follow safety protocols diligently and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Monitor the completion of daily work assignments while ensuring quality standards are met and safety and health regulations are adhered to. Qualifications and Experience: Certified Welder (AWS, ASME, or equivalent certification). Extensive experience in pipe fitting and welding, especially within industrial or commercial HVAC systems, focusing on chiller plants. Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. In-depth understanding of HVAC systems and their piping configurations. Capable of working in confined spaces and at heights when required. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
