For more information, please visit .SHIFT2nd Shift (United States of America)A BRIEF OVERVIEWThe Supervisor, Operations is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations by providing direction and managing employees engaged in shop-floor processes or operations. They review production schedules, assign work, coordinate set-ups and ensure that materials are available to complete scheduled work. The Supervisor, Operations reports directly to the Manager, Operations for Site Leader.WHAT YOU WILL DOAddresses employee issues, escalates and/or redirects as needed. Involves and consults with Human Resources. Participates in the selection of talent for organization. Participates in hiring and termination decisions.Participates in cross functional practical problem solving exercises, experience with problem solving methodologies for example the A3 process, 5-whys, fishbone, brainstorming.Works closely with all Supervisors to ensure effective communication across shifts and efficient shift hand offs between cells/departments.Lead and develop team members following the One Orchid global talent management approach to select, manage, and develop our best team. Ensure the growth of our positive business culture through behaviors that align with our core values and leadership competencies.Provide direction to employees directly engaged in shop-floor processes or operations. Ensure that the process/area maintains operations by managing employee performance and absences. Review production schedules, assign work, coordinate set-up and ensure that materials are available to complete scheduled work.Supervise work activities and resourcing for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications under the guidance of the Manager of Operations.Manage labor and resource requirements such as: materials, headcount, overtime needs, equipment, etc.Recommend measures to improve production methods, worker performance, quality and delivery of productUtilize knowledge of continuous improvement concepts to improve plant efficiency and productivity. Utilizes A3 process.Coordinate and monitor work flow through cells/departments to ensure established task times are met. Moves work and creates production gaps as required for maintenance to complete repairs or preventative maintenance.Report department metrics and leads daily Gemba walks and lean daily management (LDM)Keep Operations Leadership (Manager and/or Site Leader) promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.Establish or adjust work priorities to meet production schedules.Collaborate in the development and implementation of procedures and ensures compliance. Support the development of compliance procedures.Manage employee performance. Reward high performers and address underperforming employees. Write and deliver performance evaluations and development plans, utilizing feedback from Team Leads.Address employee issues, escalates and/or redirects as needed. Involve and consult with Human Resources. Participate in the selection of talent for organization. Participate in hiring and termination decisions.Continuously develop the team by ensuring that employees have necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in their roles. When skill gaps are identified, develop/implement action plan to address and eliminate these gaps. Identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for each employee.Consult with others (such as Team Leads and Managers) regarding policies, procedures, specifications, and other customer & quality requirements, as needed.Enforce the 6S policy and overall cleanliness of the facility.Manage safety non-compliance in a timely manner. Work with team leads to adhere to safety policies and procedures and the safe operation of all processes and equipment.Ensure team members adhere to standard operating procedures (standard work)Participate in daily production meetings/communications. Regularly conduct Team Lead meetings and ensure Team Leads have information to successfully perform their duties. Proactively eliminate hazards within their departments and ensure safe operating practices are demonstratedInformed/involved with complex problem solving. May decide on actions to take. (e.g. Kaizen)Participate in planning and equipment maintenance and repairs to support production schedule. Working with maintenance, oversee and manage maintenance of all equipment. This includes preventive and predictive repairs. Keeps the Operations Leadership (Manager and/or Site Leader) informed of and tracks machine breakdown reasons and works to prevent them.Oversee the training of new employees on standard of work instructions and policies and procedures. Ensure required training is provided and validates effectiveness of trainingCollaborate in the development and implementation of procedures and ensures compliance.
