About the role: Elimini is actively building a landowner assistance program to provide technical and educational assistance to family forest landowners. The aim of the program is to promote and support forest management practices that enhance forest health, conservation of natural resources, and sustainable wood products production. Along with the Landowner Outreach Program Manager, the Senior Landowner Assistance Forester will be responsible for co-creation of the landowner assistance program, leading the development of technical forest management materials and the forest planning systems required to support the program. The Senior Forester Landowner Assistance Forester will also engage with external stakeholder groups and private landowners to both promote the program and directly deliver on-the ground forestry assistance. The role will act as a liaison between state and federal natural resource agencies, professional natural resource service providers, loggers/wood suppliers, and Elimini's own fiber procurement team. As part of the Sustainability Team, the Senior Forester will be responsible for: Program development: Leading development of technical materials and forest management resources Advising on the development of data systems necessary to support the program Assisting the Landowner Outreach Program Manager in program promotion and community awareness Designing and leading landowner education workshops and events Liaising with local forestry and wildlife service providers in project sourcing area (federal, state, and private) Leading pilots projects to test and refine engagement techniques and forestry support systems prior to Elimini start-up Program deployment: Owning the relationship with participating family landowners Delivering on-the-ground forest management and conservation recommendations Developing management plans Connecting landowners with local forestry and wildlife service providers in project sourcing area Developing harvesting plans and coordinating with fiber procurement to identify suitable logger Monitoring harvest progress and assuring Elimini's sustainability requirements are fulfilled Providing post-harvest advice Who we're looking for: Masters level degree in forestry or related field desirable, B.S. degree plus suitable experience acceptable Significant applied experience (i.e. 7-10 yr minimum) Experience in southern forest management, including but not limited to knowledge of silviculture, forest roads, forest harvesting, and elements of wildlife management Experience working with non-corporate landowners desirable Strong interpersonal communication skills and interest in broader sustainable management including wildlife and recreation Strong verbal and written skills GIS and mapping experience a plus Experience with fiber procurement a plus Self-driven with ability to adapt to working within a team or lone working environment with minimal supervision Commitment to work safely and consistently demonstrate safe behaviours & attitude Demonstrates interpersonal skills that enhance the team approach to work and problem solving What's it like to work at Drax?
