Job SummaryThe Swing Shift Plant Mechanic is responsible for safe repair and maintenance of mining equipment typically found in an aggregate facility including crushers, screen decks, conveyors, drums, etc. The Plant Mechanic is expected to complete pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, submit required daily documentation and assist in plant operations as needed.BenefitsAt CalPortland, we're proud to offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that provides health and financial support to our most important resources: our employees. The company also has a variety of voluntary benefits for employees to choose from.ResponsibilitiesPerform safety and mechanical inspections of the plant and equipmentAddress any housekeeping issues within the workspaceDrive to various facilities to perform maintenance and repair tasks; may also include periodic work at ready-mix plantsTroubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delaysUnderstand and comply with MSHA rules and regulationsOther duties as assigned by managerEducationHigh school diploma/GEDRequirements/QualificationsMust have valid driver's license and reliable transportationProvide own tools typically used in aggregate facility maintenancePhysical requirements: able to lift or move up to 100 lbs., stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, kneel, crouch, and drive on rough terrainAble to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and coldStrong communication, problem solving and leadership skillsAble to work well with others in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers and various other types of fixed equipment used in the industryProficient in welding and cuttingProficient operator of forklift, man lift, cranes and boom trucksExperience operating heavy equipment used in aggregate facilities (loaders, dozers, road graders) preferredCurrent MSHA training certification preferredConditions of EmploymentSuccessful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
