The Memory Care Director (MCD) is responsible for leading all aspects of the Memory Care Community (MCC) and ensuring that a person-centered culture is promoted, implemented, and practiced. The MCD will plan, direct, and evaluate the MCC and Apollo Program as well as coordinate, train, supervise, and coach the MCC Team Members. The MCC offers dementia expertise and dementia care resources, collaborating with senior living community leaders in dietary, life enrichment, and health and wellness to develop and execute personalized Care and service Plans that support the residents' overall well-being. Minimum Qualifications: RN or LPN preferred Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a clinical, psychological, or social field or equivalent experience preferred. Gerontological experience or 2 years experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Caregiving experience of 3 years or more. Basic knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. A desire to serve and support MCC residents and their families/designated contacts. Intellectual interest in continually learning, implementing, and refining competent safety and care practices for dementia. Experience supervising others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good computer skills, including virtual communication. CPR and First Aid certification or successfully achieved within 30 days of employment if required by State Standards. Certified per state requirements, able and willing to provide care, and become qualified to pass medications in MCC when needed or successfully achieved in 120 days. Preferred to have a valid, unrestricted certification in the state (CNA desired) and maintain CEUs as required by the State. Essential Responsibilities: Leads and coaches team members in understanding and enacting the principles of the Stellar Apollo Program; promotes learning by modeling appropriate resident care and communication techniques. Builds and maintains professional relationships throughout the senior living community and strives for effective partnership with other leadership team members. Directs and supervises MCC's duties, tasks, and overall work; the team members perform these tasks. Able and willing to work scheduled and as-needed shifts weekly as a caregiver or delegated Medication Technician, per state requirements. Partners with applicable senior living leadership in employee retention efforts and the execution of personnel actions within or related to MCC, including interviewing, hiring, orientation, termination, promotion, disciplinary/corrective action, layoff, and recall. Partners with the Health & Wellness Director to create, modify, and maintain MCC care staff schedules. Develops, implements, and evaluates an innovative monthly MCC life enrichment calendar or oversees and participates in its execution. Coordinates shared events with the Life Enrichment Director for the senior living community. Partners with the Health & Wellness Director to coordinate and conduct screening of potential MCC residents. Partners with resident families/contacts to collect individual Resident Life Stories into LifeLoop. Partners with resident families/contacts and senior living leadership to support successful resident move-in experience and transition into MCC. Establishes and maintains regular communication with MCC resident family members and contacts via LifeLoop. Partners with the Executive Director and/or Health & Wellness Director in developing and implementing resident Service & Care Plans based on initial screenings and ongoing evaluation of resident needs. Partner with the Health & Wellness Director to coordinate and conduct Service & Care Plan meetings for MCC residents. Supports MCC residents' nutrition and dining experience by implementing and executing Stellar standards and collaborating with the Dining Services team. Adheres to established financial goals and budgetary guidelines for the MCC. Promotes and oversees the ongoing education of MCC personnel in dementia-competent safety and care practices. Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions and solve practical problems that may or may not include a variety of concrete variables. This may require interpreting instructions in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form. Shows the ability to listen actively and evaluate social situations objectively, consistently, and fairly. Functions independently with integrity and flexibility and works well, maintaining positive relationships with residents, resident families/contacts, team members, and support agencies. Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements. Understands and complies with community policies and procedures for workplace safety, including infection control procedures, emergency response, and safety protocols. Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures related to resident rights, abuse prevention and reporting, and resident confidentiality (HIPPA). Understands and complies with applicable rules, laws, regulatory codes, statutes, and other practice-specific authorities. Understands and complies with policies in the Employee Handbook. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or Stellar Resource Center leadership.
