Distribution Engineering Manager

Engineering News-Record (ENR) has ranked Leidos among the Top 10 T&D Firms and Top 10 Power Firms.We are seeking a Distribution Engineering Manager to manage and oversee a team responsible for developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards. This role will require leading other distribution engineers, oversight and QAQC of both simple and complex engineering projects, working directly with clients, and ensuring the Leidos reputation of high quality is maintained.This role is based out of the Kansas City, MO area and will require the selected candidate to report to an office in Earth City, MO at least 1 day a week, and should also be available for local customer meetings in the area as necessary. As a Distribution Engineering Manager, you can expect to:Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams.Function as client point of contact and liaison on project-related issues. Collaborate with other design managers on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality controlOversee and manage existing capital, reliability, and customer project work for clients: Customer project work may include reconductors, voltage conversions, load swaps, circuit rebuilds, DOT relocations, DG integrations, and new, large customer development feeds (OH & UG).Facilitate client & team collaboration and communication; managing resource loading based on clients demands.Track scope, schedule, and budget for projects in flightOversee QA/QC for your design teamMonitor team performance metricsTrack and report financial metricsTypical Day10%-30% working with client remotely50%-60% Leading team, performing engineering and development of design pkgs for customer20% admin/planning/customer follow-upWhat Sets You Apart (Required Qualifications):BS in an Engineering Discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial) from an ABET Accredited institution/programA minimum of 5 (five) years of prior relevant engineering experience Demonstrated Experience leading engineering personnelProficient knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and comprehension of client construction standards.Experience with electrical manholes, duct banks, and AC Secondary NetworksExperience writing RFPs and proposalsQAQC expertiseExperience with Customer interaction and Process documentationCandidate must be able to provide their own reliable transportationStrong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills.Ability to work with limited supervision and provide leadership to other team members; Ability to work effectively in teams.You Might Also Have: Experience with software such as Pull Planner and Civil3dExperience providing estimated costsExperience with AutoCAD--performing Electrical Distribution designPMP certification and/or PE licenseAt Leidos, we deliver innovative solutions through the efforts of our diverse and talented people who are dedicated to our customer's success.
