Because at Solventum, we never stop solving for you.The Impact You'll Make in this RoleThe Sustainability Controller will develop and lead the execution of the controls over Solventum's sustainability data and external reporting strategy. This role will collaborate closely with the ESG Reporting Lead to ensure compliance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), California climate disclosure law, and other sustainability reporting requirements, including the development and implementation of internal controls over ESG data and reporting.A successful candidate will be well-versed in existing global regulatory ESG reporting requirements, and a thought leader as we strategically navigate this evolving landscape. You will be hands-on as well as strategic, with deep expertise in regulatory reporting, internal controls, and building and improving robust processes that will scale to meet both our current and future challenges. You will collaborate with our Sustainability/ESG, Internal Audit, Legal, HR, Finance, Investor Relations, and subject matter teams across the globe to ensure we remain well coordinated and meet all of our ESG regulatory reporting requirements. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. Roles and Responsibilities:Develop and operationalize the internal infrastructure (policies, processes, controls, and systems) required to meet mandatory ESG and CSRD reporting and assurance requirements.Implement SOX-like controls across the end-to-end business processes from data sources to disclosures.Overseeing SOX process/control and operational audit documentation, including process flows, risk and controls matrices, testing workpapers, issue listings, remediation plans and audit reports related to ESG and CSRD reporting and assurance.Partner with stakeholders in building audit ready data collection and methodological processes for ESG and CSRD data and implement and maintain internal controls.Provide leadership and vision for process improvement and system enhancements for controlled ESG and CSRD data gathering, processing and reporting.Address compliance gaps and proactively identify opportunities to improve the control program to ensure consistency and transparency.Develop strong relationships with external auditors to coordinate their roles in the review, oversight, and assurance to certain aspects of mandatory external reporting.Coordinate mandatory CSRD and ESG-related reporting, in partnership with Sustainability/ESG, Legal, HR, Finance, Investor Relations, Statutory, and subject matter experts across the globe to ensure we remain well coordinated and meet all of our regulatory reporting requirements.Support and coordinate with teams managing our voluntary ESG reporting to ensure we're working in a synergistic manner.Partner with local teams to ensure appropriate disclosures and centralized assurance on these disclosures, including helping them to stay updated on other international climate-related requirements.Coordinate with the Chief Accounting Officer, Director of External Reporting and Technical Accounting, to complete external assurance and auditor reviews of reports, integrating related requirements for SEC reporting.Stay updated on latest ESG reporting regulations (e.g. CSRD), industry trends, and various reporting frameworks (U.S. and International, e.g., ISSB). Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on evolving issues and best practices related to ESG data assurance and reporting.Provide training and education to corporate and operating company teams to enhance awareness and understanding of ESG and CSRD data assurance and reporting.Cordinate with the ESG Reporting Project Manager project timelines for ESG and CSRD data reporting, ensuring project management to meet external reporting deadlines while driving continuous improvement in ESG and CSRD data reporting processes, systems, and data management. Coordinating with external audit on timing, sampling, and control reliance.Fostering a culture of transparency, trust and continual improvement to reach optimal individual and organizational goals and performance.Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field and 10 years of experience in a combination of accounting and financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, data management, or related fields.Knowledge of and prior experience with ESG and non-financial reporting and disclosure practices and assurance and the relevant regulations and standards, including SEC, CSRD, ISSB, and other relevant frameworks (mandatory and voluntary).U.S. GAAP technical accounting and SEC reporting foundation and knowledge of SEC/PCAOB internal control SOX regulations, COSO, and IT Audit concepts.Experience in building and improving well-controlled (SOX compliant) processes leveraging technology that scales globally.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Experience managing project work with tight deadlines and working in a fast-paced environmentPrevious experience managing projects and partnering with various teams to establish data requirements.An interest for ESG and a proven understanding of the key scientific, regulatory, and market developments related to ESG.Demonstrated success in developing and executing against project plansDetail-oriented with strong project management, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsHigh level of critical and logical thinking and comfort with ambiguityIncredible attention to detail and ownership of business outcomesComfortable in both individual contributing roles and cross-functional team management rolesExperience to manage and work with a remote team that is in both the US and international locationsNaturally curious, eager to learn and not afraid of challengesAudit firm experience (Big 4 or boutique firm) and/or med-tech device experienceRelevant professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, Certified Sustainability Practitioner (CSP), Greenhouse Gas Management Institute diploma, or equivalentWork location: RemoteTravel: May include up to 15-20% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: Not authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being Solventum offers many programs to help you live your best life - both physically and financially.
