Unlock your potential at HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Bariatric Nurse Navigator / Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of efficient, safe, and quality care for patients served at HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center for our bariatric program. The Coordinator actively participates in the development and implementation of goals, strategies, and tactics to support the continued growth and success of the Bariatric Surgery Program. The Coordinator assists in the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) accreditation process and ensures continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements. The Coordinator serves as the designated MBS Program Coordinator for purposes of MBSAQIP accreditation. The Coordinator is a registered nurse who works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advance practice providers, health psychologists, registered nurses, nutritionists, medical assistants, and appointment schedulers to plan, direct, and evaluate the care provided to MBS patients. He/she must possess expertise in nursing practice, clinical care standards, and workflows in addition to MBSAQIP accreditation requirements. The Coordinator relies on evidence-based practice standards to assure consistent high-quality care and a positive patient and family experience across the continuum of care. This involves coordination of meetings, data collection, and patient and staff education and care coordination with inpatient and outpatient teams. The Coordinator works closely with the MBS Director and Clinical Reviewer to ensure quality metrics, pathways and protocols are developed and maintained. What You Will Do In Your Role: · Maintains relevant policies and procedures and coordinates patient education, outcomes data collection, quality improvement efforts, and education of relevant staff in the various aspects of the MBS patient with a focus on patient safety. · Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver high quality, patient- centered care. · Provides ongoing guidance in adherence to the MBSAQIP accreditation process, working with national organization, Data Analysts, and database to assure quality of care measures are maintained. · Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team. · Provides ongoing guidance in adherence to the MBSAQIP accreditation process, working with national organization, Data Analysts, and database to assure quality of care measures are maintained What qualifications you will need: · Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required · Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date). · 3+ years of experience working as a Registered Nurse leading programs and/or projects with teams · Certified Bariatric Nurse · BLS required · 3+ years of experience working as a Registered Nurse leading programs and/or projects with teams Required Certified Bariatric Nurse HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is a 445+ bed acute care hospital located in the heart of central Houston, adjacent to the Medical Center and Museum District, and provides quality care for the greater Houston area.
