SummaryOur client is a Houston based, privately owned construction company with over 30 years of success located in the West Houston area. Their business includes a wide range project development including retail, industrial, commercial and restaurant/hospitality. The company has an established accounting team, but their Controller will be retiring next year and needs a new Controller to join the team and continue the company's history of excellence.Position OverviewController responsibilities will include oversight of all general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and cash flow management. This role will perform extensive financial analysis and reconciliations, expense management, audit preparation, tax oversight and monthly financial statement preparation. Our client is currently looking for a strategic partner and problem solver, who possesses excellent analytical skills, upward potential and who thrives working in a fast-paced, in person environment while contributing to company growth.Major Duties And FunctionsPrepare/review monthly financial statements and compliance reporting for internal and external parties Participate in the projection and cash flow planning process for the company Ensure a strong framework of financial controls and adherence to established policies and procedures Perform analytical functions necessary to execute and review the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process Prepare monthly WIP schedule Track and manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules Primary lead on the annual financial statement audit, serving as the first point of contact for external auditors and preparation of PBCs while working to resolve auditor questions Overall budget and forecasting responsibility, including working with each department to ensure financial results are in line with budget Work effectively with owners, executives, and operations professionals Manage and participate in special projects and other duties as assigned QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required 5-15+ years of overall accounting experience; public accounting experience is desirable Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word Construction and POC accounting experience required
