The successful candidate will serve as the chief administrative officer, responsible for the academic program, student success, recruitment, budgeting, and fostering relationships with educational partners, industry, the community, and alumni. This role involves leading accreditation efforts, promoting excellence in teaching and learning, and supporting faculty in planning, implementation, evaluation, and professional development. The Chairperson will also be tasked with aligning the school's programmatic efforts with the overall university mission and vision, as well as developing and facilitating undergraduate and graduate programming. Applicants for the Chairperson position should have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in aquatic sciences or a related field, with a preference for a faculty rank of Associate Professor. A minimum of 2 years' leadership experience at the unit, college, or university level is required. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of SACS accreditation standards, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and a proven track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships in the aquatic sciences and aquaculture fields. The role also requires proficiency in computer applications, excellent communication, and a strong commitment to student-centered, active learning pedagogy.
