The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a diverse academic community of 52 full-time faculty across ten departments, including art and design, communications, education, English and creative writing, history, languages, literatures and cultures, music, philosophy, religious studies, and theatre. This leadership role involves working closely with academic staff and other deans on university-wide matters, such as strategic vision, and planning, and promoting excellence in curricula, teaching, learning, academic advising, scholarship, and faculty development. The Dean will also be tasked with establishing and sustaining vibrant school cultures, initiating curricular innovation, and leading interdisciplinary programs. Applicants for the Dean position at the company should have a strong academic background, with a terminal degree in a relevant field, and a proven track record of leadership in an academic setting. The role requires a commitment to creating an inclusive culture, encouraging faculty professional growth, and maintaining a visible presence on campus. The ideal candidate will have experience in budget management, and fundraising, and a collaborative approach to working with the Office of Admission and the Center for Academic Success to recruit and retain students. Additionally, the Dean will be expected to teach one class per year, advise students, and engage in the academic and professional activities of the faculty.
