The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and promoting a strategic roadmap for data operations and database management across various systems, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and DB2. This role involves directing the architecture of high-availability, resilient, and scalable database platforms, as well as leading the migration of on-premise databases to cloud-native solutions. The VP/D will also be tasked with leading and mentoring a team of DBAs, driving upgrade projects, and ensuring database security protocols are in compliance with industry regulations. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in database management, with a strong background in managing multiple database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. A proven track record of at least 5 years' in leading a data-centric organization, particularly in financial services or a heavily regulated industry, is essential. The role requires expertise in on-prem to cloud-based technology transformation, Agile methodologies, and a deep understanding of AWS. The ideal candidate will have a background in selecting and negotiating 3rd party products and services, as well as proficiency in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2 z/OS. A degree in computer science, hard sciences, or engineering is preferred, along with relevant DBA and cloud certifications. The role demands a leader who can motivate and support a team to meet high delivery standards, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure the scalability and security of database systems.
