The successful candidate will be a key leader in the implementation of gene therapy programs, with a focus on inborn errors of metabolism. This role is pivotal in the launch of two gene therapies in the US, requiring the management of clinical centers and the provision of scientific education and support to physicians and patient organizations. The Executive Director will be a core member of the Medical Affairs Gene Therapy Treatment Team, collaborating with clinical development to ensure the delivery of timely and accurate scientific information. They will also be responsible for driving the successful implementation of gene therapy, engaging with key opinion leaders, and staying abreast of industry developments to inform strategic decisions. Applicants must be Medical Doctors with Board Certification in a relevant field, and an MD-PhD is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of academic experience with a strong publication record is required, along with proven expertise in the management of patients receiving systemic AAV gene therapy. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, ready to take an active role in all aspects of post-approval gene therapy team collaboration. Experience in a multidisciplinary setting, a broad network within the rare disease community, and a background in pharmaceutical drug development or medical affairs are desirable. The role demands a high level of commitment, including the availability for out-of-hours work, and the ability to travel extensively.
