The successful candidate will be responsible for providing critical support in state and federal regulatory proceedings, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and advancing the company's strategic objectives. This role involves representing the company in a variety of legal matters, including preparing and reviewing regulatory filings, providing legal counsel to internal business partners, and managing legal risks in a dynamic energy landscape. The Senior Counsel will also be expected to collaborate with internal teams and external counsel, supervise outside legal representation, and monitor legal and regulatory developments that may impact the business. Applicants for the Senior Counsel position at the company should have a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an accredited law school, a minimum of 3 years' related work experience, and be licensed to practice law in the United States. Preferred qualifications include a strong background in regulatory or energy law, experience in representing clients in regulatory proceedings, and membership in good standing with a state bar, particularly in North Carolina or South Carolina. The role requires exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to manage complex legal matters and work effectively within cross-functional teams. A proactive approach to legal advice, the ability to meet deadlines in dynamic settings, and a strong knowledge of energy laws and regulations are also essential.
