This role is pivotal in driving the quality and growth of the organization's horticulture, living collections, research, community forestry, and conservation programs. The successful candidate will be a strategic and dynamic individual with a strong background in horticulture, ecology, botany, or a related plant science field. Responsibilities include creating and driving measurable goals, supporting a culture of accountability, and representing the organization at various meetings and events. The Chief of Plants and Science will also be expected to lend their expertise to further the impact of the institution and ensure that its programs are recognized as among the best in the world. Applicants for the Chief of Plants and Science position at the company must have a minimum of a master's degree in a relevant field, with a Ph.D. being desirable, and at least 8 years of experience in horticultural, ecological, or conservation research, including a minimum of 5 years in a management role. Supervisory experience in public gardens or a similar environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading change, be skilled in creating and driving organizational health, and have a strong commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
